Affinity Groups & Clubs

Student life at Chiaravalle

Chiaravalle develops lifelong learners who effect change for a better world through our engagement with anti-bias education.

This practice’s four core goals include identity, empathy, critical thinking, and standing up for oneself and others. Affinity groups further the first goal, by nurturing each child and family’s construction of a confident self and group identity.

DREAMS Club logo

The DREAMS affinity group provides a safe and authentic space where individuals can feel comfortable, welcome, and have a sense of belonging. Students who identify as Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color (BIPOC) are welcome to join.

DREAMS club meets bi-monthly with the of goal of supporting students in developing a positive racial identity and create community.

In the 2023-24 school year, DREAMS students will participate in the Young Men of Color Symposium and Young Women of Color Symposium.

Rainbow Club logo

The Rainbow Club affinity group builds community between LGBTQ+ and allied students, raises awareness of LGBTQ+ issues, and supports this community. The group also advocates for the safety and inclusion of all students.

Rainbow Club meets bi-monthly, where students can affirm their identities and experiences, and promote self and community care.

In the summer of 2023, Rainbow Club joined other area schools to march in the Chicago Pride Parade. During the 2023-24 school year, students plan to fundraise to support national LGBTQ+ organizations like The Trevor Project.

Student-Initiated Clubs

At Chiaravalle, student leaders are welcome to start a club with faculty sponsorship. Past initiatives have included a Green Team that initiated sustainability activities on campus and a FIRST LEGO competition squad who reached the finals of state competition.

*Please note: Clubs are student-founded and change yearly based on interest.
