Our nurturing and supportive environment becomes a “home away from home” for our youngest learners. The Toddler program is designed to foster individual growth while promoting cooperative play and shared learning experiences with peers.

For Toddlers, each day offers exciting opportunities to develop and refine essential skills:

  • Nurturing language development
  • Enhancing gross motor abilities
  • Honing fine motor dexterity
  • Fostering independence

Our dedicated teachers guide and support children as they navigate this crucial stage of development. We recognize the importance of providing a warm, welcoming atmosphere that encourages exploration, curiosity, and self-discovery.

Maria Montessori recognized that play is the work of the young child. Acknowledging the meaning and dignity inherent in a toddler’s learning through an unhurried day, independence, and a culture of respect creates a foundation for lifelong learning.

Toddler programming beginning at 16 months

Chiaravalle offers Toddler Montessori classrooms for children ages 16-36 months. Students attend school independently for 3 or 5 days per week. Students enrolled in the Core program are served a catered lunch, have contract options to arrive as early as 7:30 am for breakfast, and extend their length of day until 4:30 pm or until 6:00 pm.

Consistent Teaching for a 2-year Toddler Experience

Toddlers who enroll as Toddler 1 students can have a multi-year experience with their teacher. As students transition to Toddler 2, the classroom and teaching team remain the same to allow for a consistent experience in the second year. We believe allowing Toddler students and families the same chance to develop deep relationships with their teachers, as happens in Early Childhood, Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary, and Middle School, is beneficial to students, families, and faculty, as well as being consistent with our educational goals and pedagogy as a Montessori school.

Options for Morning, All Day, or just Three Days a Week

For families who would like a traditional three-hour morning class for their 24-36-month-old child, Chiaravalle offers a partial day Toddler class for 3 (T, W, Th) or 5 days per week. This class does not offer extensions for breakfast or lunch.
