We must help the child to act for himself, will for himself, think for himself; this is the art of those who aspire to serve the spirit.” — Maria Montessori
The Chiaravalle Early Childhood program provides an ideal learning laboratory for a young child’s development. We nurture students between the ages of 3 and 6, focusing on individualized experience in the context of a community. The result is an independent, confident, and capable young person who has developed their cognitive, social and emotional skills.
Our Early Childhood classrooms are inviting, attractive spaces designed to entice each child to move, touch and explore. Much learning at this age is processed sensorially, through the hand. Children work independently and with peers, based on their interests and guided by their teachers.
Montessori classrooms at this level are identifiable around the world for the iconic materials developed by Maria Montessori such as: the pink tower and brown stair for sensorial exploration, the golden bead math materials, and sandpaper letters and metal insets for language development. These materials teach the foundational skills needed to feel confident moving on to the next stage of development.
We grant your children time each day, to make independent discoveries, to build friendships and learn what it means to be part of a community. Our young children experience their impact on each other and develop into peer teachers, leaders and empathetic friends. We value this time and this process that helps cultivate compassion, concentration, motivation, self-discipline, and a love of learning.
