Hybrid On-Campus/Remote Learning

We’re going with the hybrid option. We appreciate the consistent daily schedule and that it seems optimized — concentrating the pieces of the school experience that are best done in person, like socio-emotional learning, academic scaffolding and evaluation, and the uninterrupted work period — in the pre-lunch period.

For us, it feels like the right balance as a transition into another unusual school year in this very chaotic time.

While we have heard from our community that in-person learning is the preferred option for families, further conversation led us to introduce a third, Hybrid (half day on-campus/half day remote) schedule option for Kindergarten through 8th grade students.

For the On-Campus/Remote Learning Hybrid, students come in-person for our morning program, get dismissed mid-day, with the remainder of the day occurring remotely at home. Remote afternoon will include at least an hour of live synchronous learning, as well as additional asynchronous learning opportunities. Due to scheduling and timing, programming may run through 4:30 or 5 pm. Opt in here

What will the Hybrid schedule look like?

Kindergarten
  • Kinders will remain with their Head Teacher from the previous year
  • Everyone experiences our regular Montessori morning work period (students are in pods of ~15 students)
  • Outdoor recess/social time ~11:00-11:30
  • Hybrid students are picked up after recess period and have lunch at home
  • Hybrid students have scheduled virtual learning (synchronous and asynchronous) for Writers Workshop, Fundations Phonics, and specials.
  • Hybrid learners will have an option to participate in additional specials programming, which may be scheduled after 3pm to accommodate the On-Campus schedule.
Elementary
  • Everyone experiences our regular Montessori morning work period (students are in pods of ~15 students)
  • Outdoor recess/social time ~11:30-12:15
  • Hybrid students are picked up anytime during recess period and have lunch at home
  • Hybrid students have scheduled virtual learning (synchronous and asynchronous)
  • Hybrid learners will have an option to participate in additional specials programming, which may be scheduled after 3pm to accommodate the On-Campus schedule.
Middle School
  • Everyone attends morning work blocks that prioritize in-person social connection and collaborative learning such as Advisory, Natural World/Social World group work (NW/SW), Independent Work time (IW), Language Arts (LA) and some specials opportunities.
  • 12:15 dismissal for Hybrid learners, eat lunch at home
  • Math groups meet as online, synchronous instruction for On-Campus, Hybrid, and full Remote learners
  • Hybrid learners will have an option to participate in additional specials programming, which may be scheduled after 3pm to accommodate the On-Campus schedule.

Elementary and Middle School families may opt into an all Remote Learning program through winter break or a full On-Campus schedule.
