Unrestricted gifts to Chiaravalle have the most impact because they can be used immediately to address the school's most urgent needs and provide the Board of Trustees the greatest flexibility in investing and planning for the future.
Restricted gifts have explicit donor restrictions defining their use and expenditure. Generally these gifts are funds that cannot be
expended, for instance an endowment. Chiaravalle has one restricted endowment, the Diversity Scholarship Endowment. The income from this fund is expendable for scholarship purposes only.
On occasion, school personnel will identify an urgent program need or enhancement that falls outside the budget. Chiaravalle has raised funds for these requests at our Spring Benefit through a specifically outlined Fund A Need. In the past, this has supported such initiatives as artists-in-residence or new gym equipment.
