Celebrate Our Home
Posted 11.19.09
On November 19, 7:30 pm, parents, teachers, alumni, and friends will be celebrating a milestone in Chiaravalle history — the imminent purchase of 425 Dempster Street, our school’s cherished historic home. Chiaravalle leased space throughout Evanston since its founding in 1965. Since 1980, the school has been in the brick school building at the corner of Dempter and Hinman [formerly Miller School] designed by Daniel Burnham in 1898. Burnham, whose genius in designing the plan for the City of Chicago is being celebrated all over the North Shore in this centennial year, lived only two blocks east of the school.
Chiaravalle Montessori School is now poised to secure a permanent location in Evanston. Join the Chiaravalle Montessori School community to celebrate this joyous occasion. Highlights of the evening include:
· Unveiling of artistic mural created by Chiaravalle families, faculty and alumni. Each family could create a representational image of what Chiaravalle means to them on a 6”x6” canvas, joined together to create a glorious, unique work of art.
· Honored guests including Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl (former Chiaravalle grandparent) and former Mayor Lorraine Morton. Mayor Tisdahl will share a few words to mark the occasion.
· Launch of the public phase of the Campaign for Chiaravalle: Preparing the Environment to raise $3 million in support of the purchase and renovation of the historic structure at 425 Dempster.
